Dehradun road-rage: Retired Army brigadier killed in criss-cross firing, accused absconding
PTC News Desk: A retired Army brigadier was killed after he was caught in a criss cross firing between two car occupants in a road rage incident on Monday.
The incident unfolded on in Johri village on Mussoorie Road when an argument between both the car occupants turned into an altercation the occupants in the Scorpio allegedly chased the Fortuner and opened fire at its tyres, but a bullet struck retired Army brigadier Mukesh Joshi (74), who was out for his morning walk, police said.
The retired Army brigadier was immediately rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police said, as a bullet struck Fortuner's tyre, the driver lost control and rammed into a tree near the Government Primary School in Johri.
After the incident, all the accused travelling in the Scorpio fled the scene, a senior police officer said.
Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pramendra Singh Dobal accompanied by other senior officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation. He further said that additional barricades have been set up to nab the accused. The search operation is underway.
