Congress wins big in Telanganas Jubilee Hills bypoll after blow in Bihar

The bypoll was held after the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. His wife, Maganti Sunitha, contested for the BRS, while Congress fielded Naveen Yadav and the BJP put up Deepak Reddy.

PTC News Desk: The Congress scored a big win in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election in Hyderabad, where its candidate Naveen Yadav V won by 24,729 votes. After 10 rounds of counting, Yadav had 98,988 votes.

BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha Gopinath came second with 74,259 votes, losing by the same margin. The BJP’s Deepak Reddy Lankala was far behind with 17,061 votes. After the win, Naveen Yadav thanked voters for their strong support.

TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud said the victory showed public approval of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership. He added that Congress wins in both the Secunderabad Cantonment bypoll last year and now Jubilee Hills reflect people’s satisfaction with the government’s welfare schemes.

The bypoll was held after the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. His wife, Maganti Sunitha, contested for the BRS, while Congress fielded Naveen Yadav and the BJP put up Deepak Reddy.

Officials said voter turnout on November 11 was 48.49%. Out of 4.01 lakh eligible voters, 1.94 lakh cast their votes.
