Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu has approved 20% reservation for ex-Agniveers in Delhi Police, fireman, jail warder, forest guard and other Group C posts. Recruitment rule changes to be completed by June 30
PTC Web Desk: In a significant move aimed at supporting former Agniveers after their military service, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu has directed the implementation of 20 percent reservation for ex-Agniveers in direct recruitment to several Group C non-gazetted posts under the Delhi administration.
The reservation will apply to positions such as Delhi Police constable, fireman, jail warder, forest guard and wildlife guard. The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by the Lieutenant Governor with senior officials, including the Chief Secretary of Delhi, the Delhi Police Commissioner and representatives from various government departments.
Sharing details on social media platform X, LG Tarunjit Singh Sandhu said the reservation policy is intended to utilise the discipline, training and professional skills acquired by young men and women during their military service.
He stated that 20 percent reservation would be provided in direct recruitment vacancies across specified Group C categories, ensuring that eligible former Agniveers receive fair opportunities to continue serving the nation in civilian roles.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that the recruitment process would remain open and transparent for all eligible ex-Agniveers. He also directed all departments concerned to complete the necessary amendments to recruitment rules and finalise related procedures by June 30.
Officials have additionally been granted flexibility to deploy recruited ex-Agniveers in roles that best match their operational expertise and specialised training.
