Delhi horror: Man, 31, beaten to death by in-laws, family alleges pre-planned conspiracy
According to Vinay's mother, an argument broke out between Vinay and his wife, Rekha, over giving medicine to one of their children.
PTC News Desk: A 31-year-old software engineer was beaten to death by his wife's relatives after a scuffle broke out over giving medicine to child in Delhi's Nihal Vihar area.
The deceased has been identified as Vinay Gupta, who was married to Rekha, a homemaker. The couple got married in 2023 and have twin children, a boy and a girl.
Vinay was employed as a software engineer with Adobe in Noida and, according to his family, had an annual package of around Rs 60 lakh.
According to Vinay's mother, an argument broke out between Vinay and his wife, Rekha, over giving medicine to one of their children. Rekha reportedly became angry after Vinay spoke to her in a loud voice. After the argument, she left the house and returned about 10 minutes later with several members of her family.
Vinay's family alleged that Rekha came with her two brothers, sister-in-law, father, uncle and another person. They allegedly entered the house and assaulted Vinay. His mother had gone to arrange water and refreshments for the visitors when the attack reportedly began. Vinay had also served water to his in-laws before the alleged assault.
The family claimed that Vinay was repeatedly beaten, strangled and kicked and punched in the chest. His parents tried to save him, but the attack allegedly continued. They further alleged that the assault was planned and that Rekha had switched off the CCTV cameras in the house.
After the attack, a neighbour reportedly carried Vinay outside as he was unable to stand. He was made to sit on a chair and was later taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Vinay's family also claimed that there had been frequent disputes between Vinay and Rekha over minor issues. They alleged that Rekha often argued with Vinay's mother and that one of her brothers had previously threatened Vinay.
The victim's father said the family had hoped to settle the couple's disputes through discussions, but the situation eventually turned violent.
