PTC News Desk: At least four people lost their lives after a major fire broke out at a private hospital in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district. The blaze started in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the fifth floor of Prasad Hospital, and officials fear the death toll could increase as rescue operations are still underway. Firefighters received a distress call at 3:55 am and quickly reached the scene. Nearly 20 patients were rescued from the ICU, while others were shifted to nearby hospitals. Initial investigations indicate that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit.

Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen said that around 13 patients were admitted in the ICU, along with several others in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). He added that appropriate action would be taken after the investigation is completed.

The tragedy occurred just a day after another deadly fire in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar, where 21 people were killed and 26 others injured at the Flourish Stay bed-and-breakfast in the Hauz Rani area. The fire broke out around 8:30 am while nearly 40 guests, many of them asleep, were inside the hotel.

According to Delhi Police, the hotel had only one entry and exit point, while its windows were permanently sealed and the main door operated through sensors. These factors severely restricted escape routes once the fire spread through the building.
