Gangster Goldy Brar claims killing Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada ; what leaked audio reveals ?
Brar allegedly says Nijjar was targeted because he supported people accused of involving young people in drug-related activities.
PTC News Desk: A suspected audio clip featuring gangster Goldy Brar has surfaced, in which he allegedly claims that he and his associates were involved in the killing of Khalistan supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada in 2023. The authenticity of the recording has not been independently confirmed.
The audio reportedly captures Brar speaking with Khalistan supporter Paramjit Singh Pamma. In the conversation, Brar allegedly says Nijjar was targeted because he supported people accused of involving young people in drug-related activities.
According to the reported conversation, Brar claimed that some people were encouraging teenagers aged 16-17 to sell drugs, blackmailing young people into working as drug sellers and informants. He allegedly accused Nijjar of supporting such individuals for his own benefit.
Nijjar Killing Affected India-Canada Relations
The killing of Nijjar badly affected relations between India and Canada after then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that there could be a link between Indian government agents and the murder.
India strongly rejected the allegations, calling them “absurd” and “motivated,” and has repeatedly denied any involvement in Nijjar’s killing.
Relations between the two countries have improved somewhat since Trudeau left office. India and Canada also started discussions between their law enforcement agencies last year.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney later met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Kananaskis. The appointment of High Commissioners-designate by both countries has also been seen as a step towards improving bilateral ties.
