Major security scare: Explosives material found near PM Modis event in Bengaluru, suspect arrested

The explosives were found near an ashram close to Kagalipura, around 3 kilometres away from the main venue where the Prime Minister was scheduled to attend a programme later in the day.

PTC News Desk: A major security scare was reported in Bengaluru near PM Modi's event after two gelatin sticks were found, triggering immediate security response and police investigation. 


The explosives were found near an ashram close to Kagalipura, around 3 kilometres away from the main venue where the Prime Minister was scheduled to attend a programme later in the day.



“On Sunday morning, before PM’s arrival, during the checking, two gelatin sticks were found on the side of a footpath, nearly 3 kms away from the main venue where PM Modi was scheduled to arrive,” police said.


Police immediately cordoned off the area and launched investigation. A forensic team along with bomb disposal squad reached the spot for examination. 


The suspect has been taken into the custody and and currently being interrogated in connection with the case. Officials are trying to establish how the gelatin sticks reached the area and whether there was any larger conspiracy behind the recovery.
