Mizoram, December 06: Manisha Padhi made history by becoming India's first female Aide-De-Camp to the Mizoram Governor, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati.

Formally assuming her new role, Padhi commenced her duties on Tuesday, presenting herself to the Governor and acquainting herself with the officials and staff at the Raj Bhavan, Mizoram. A 2015 batch officer from the Indian Air Force (IAF), Padhi's appointment as the Aide-De-Camp to Governor Kambhampati was confirmed on November 29, marking a significant milestone. Notably, she stands as the first female officer from the Indian Armed Forces to serve as an Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to a Governor in India.


Governor Kambhampati hailed Padhi's appointment as a momentous occasion, emphasising its significance in challenging gender norms and promoting women's accomplishments in diverse domains. He remarked, "Her appointment is not just a milestone but a testament to the power of women breaking gender norms and excelling in different fields. Let's celebrate this remarkable achievement and continue to champion women's empowerment in every sphere."


Before her pivotal assignment in Mizoram, Padhi served across three postings, including Air Force Stations in Bidar, Pune, and Bhatinda, showcasing her dedication and expertise in the realm of the Indian Air Force. Hailing from Berhampur in the Ganjam district of Odisha, Padhi pursued her education at the CV Raman College of Engineering in Bhubaneswar. Her roots and family remain in Bhubaneswar, marking a proud moment for her hometown and the region.
