Multi-storey building collapses in Delhis Satya Niketan, several feared trapped; one dead, two critical

PTC News Desk: A multi-storey building collapsed in Delhi's Satya Niketan area on Sunday afternoon with one dead and several being feared to be trapped ,said officials. Six people have so far been rescued from the building while a search is underway for more survivors. 


According to the information, the building served as a 75-bed paying guest accommodation and the owner lives in Gurugram.  


An eyewitness said around 50 students may have been inside the building when it collapsed. Since it was Sunday, most of the students were reportedly at home, she said.


A student at the scene told news agency ANI that he heard people crying for help from under the rubble. Another eyewitness said the building was a men’s paying guest (PG) accommodation called “Hostel Daze”.


Videos from the scene showed a large crowd gathered at the site, while fire brigade personnel searched through the debris for survivors. Local residents also started removing the rubble with their hands before rescue teams and heavy machinery could arrive.


In one video shared online, a person could be seen trapped under a concrete slab as several people tried to lift it and rescue him.
