Indigo plane hits pole during landing at Srinagar airport, all passengers safe; probe ordered
PTC News Desk: A major tragedy was averted after an Indigo plane met with an accident as it collided with a pole while landing at the Srinagar International Airport. The flight 6E 225 (VT-NOG) was operating from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar.
According to officials, the incident took place around 9:02 am while the aircraft was being moved to Bay No. 06 at the airport. The flight reportedly hit a Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) pole, following which an investigation was ordered.
Airport authorities said all passengers and crew members were safe and no one was injured. The passengers and crew were safely deboarded using manual aircraft stairs.
A detailed inquiry has been ordered to determine what caused the incident. Authorities said the exact reason will be known only after the investigation is completed and that no conclusion has been reached at this stage.
Second incident in 24 hours
This was the second incident involving an IndiGo flight within 24 hours.
On Thursday, an IndiGo flight from Doha to Bengaluru was diverted to Muscat after one of its pilots became unwell. Flight 6E 1302 was being operated by an Airbus A321.
The airline said the flight was diverted because one of the crew members urgently needed medical attention. It said the incident would be investigated and more information would be shared after the probe.
IndiGo did not disclose details about the pilot's condition or what exactly led to the diversion.
The airline said the crew member received medical attention after the aircraft landed and was feeling better. An alternative aircraft and a new crew were then arranged to continue the flight to Bengaluru.
