PTC News Desk: Mumbai Police have detained actor and self-styled film critic Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KKR, for allegedly firing four gunshots at a residential building in Oshiwara, Andheri, on January 18.

He was taken into custody after questioning by a police team, during which he reportedly admitted to using his licensed firearm. The weapon involved in the incident has been recovered by the authorities.

During interrogation, Khan claimed he did not intend to harm anyone, stating that he had been cleaning his gun and fired it toward a nearby mangrove forest to test whether it was functioning properly. He said he believed the bullets would not travel beyond the forest, but strong winds caused at least one round to veer off and hit a residential building in Oshiwara.

According to officials, writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra, aged 45, lives on the second floor of the building, while 29-year-old model Prateek Baid resides on the fourth floor. Initially, the identity of the shooter was unknown, but further investigation revealed Khan’s involvement. He has since been detained from his studio, and the police have confirmed that the firearm has been seized. Legal proceedings in the case are currently ongoing.
