Kolkata, December 17: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed concern over the security breach at the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, labeling it a serious matter that warrants investigation. She highlighted the admission of a security lapse by the Home Minister and emphasized the need for a thorough inquiry into the incident.

Taking a dig at the suspension of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O'Brien from the Rajya Sabha for the remainder of the Winter Session, Mamata Banerjee suggested that O'Brien's suspension was a consequence of raising the security breach issue in the house. She noted that other Congress and DMK MPs were also suspended after raising the issue.

Opposition leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, have raised questions about the actions taken by the BJP-led central government in response to the security breach. Many have called for Home Minister Amit Shah to address the incident.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi linked the security breach to issues such as unemployment and inflation, attributing the incident to the policies of the BJP-led government. He stated that the country's main problem is unemployment, fueled by Prime Minister Modi's policies, which have left the youth without job opportunities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the seriousness of the security breach, urging against squabbling over the issue and emphasizing the ongoing investigations by probe agencies. He stated that understanding the individuals behind the incident and their motives is crucial.

The security breach occurred on December 13 when two individuals jumped into the Lok Sabha from the visitor's gallery, throwing smoke canisters and shouting anti-establishment slogans. The breach coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. The four individuals involved, Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Neelam, and Amol, were sent to seven-day custody of the Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday.
