PM Modi remembers freedom fighters in Port Blair

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Port Blair remembered the brave heroes who laid their lives for the country on Sunday.

The Prime Minister arrived in Port Blair on December 29 evening. He also visited the Tsunami Memorial at Car Nicobar today. He also laid a wreath at the memorial and lighted a candle at the wall of Lost Souls.

He is scheduled to inaugurate the Industrial training institute (ITI) and lay the foundation stone for some infrastructure projects. He will also address a public meeting here. He will rename the names of three islands to mark the 75th year of freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose. Ross islands will be renamed as Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Island, Neil Island will be renamed as Shaheed Dweep and Havelock Island will be renamed as Swaraj Dweep.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also lay a wreath at the Martyrs Column at Port Blair. He will also hoist the high mast flag at the South Point. He will also pay a floral tribute to the Statue of Netaji. Prime Minister will then release a commemorative postal stamp to mark the 75th Anniversary of the tricolor flag on the Indian soil by Bose.

According to the media sources, Prime Minister will also inaugurate a 7 MW Solar Power Plant, and Solar Village in this visit.
