PM Modi to visit Maldives today to attend swearing-in ceremony
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Maldives today to attend the swearing-in ceremony of a new president. Modi will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Foreign Secretary.

According to the official sources, Modi will be having bilateral talks with Solih after the ceremony. Modi is expected to return to New Delhi later evening. This is Prime Minister's first visit to the Maldives. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in Indo-Maldives relations.

The tension between the two countries was there during the President Abdulla Yameen. According to the media sources, this visit may give a new energy to the bilateral relations. The new President is most likely to visit India in near future.
