PU Elections 2022: AAP student wing, CYSS, candidate Aayush Khatkar becomes President

Panjab University Student Council elections: In a major victory of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), its student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) won a landslide majority in the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) elections on Tuesday. With this, Aayush Khatkar, an LLM student at the University Institute of Legal Studies, has become the campus president. CYSS received a total of 2712 votes. With 1763 votes, the ABVP finished in second. NSUI came in third place, while SOI came in fourth. Notably, the student wing of the Aam Aadmi Party, Chhatar Yuva Sangharsh Samiti, has contested student union elections at Panjab University for the first time.

In these elections, 21 candidates competed for 4 posts in the university. These posts include the posts of President, Vice President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary. Chetan Chaudhary of the Student Organization of India (SOI) won the previous student union elections held at the university in the year 2019 and became the campus president. Earlier in the year 2018 Kanupriya University of Students for Society (SFS) won the post of president. She became the first woman president in the PU Students' Union elections.
