The Enforcement and Periphery Team, under the supervision of Nitish Singla, PCS Sub Divisional Magistrate (East) demolished illegal building being constructed in Village Daria on Sunday. The building was being constructed for running a Hotel and a notice for the same was issued by the SDM( East) exercising the powers of Deputy Commissioner under Section 12(2) of the Punjab New Capital (Periphery) Control Act, 1952.
Deputy Commissioner- Vinay Partap Singh said that to ensure effective actions against fresh illegal/unauthorised constructions and encroachment in the periphery the Chandigarh Administration is adopting a ZERO tolerance policy.
He further said that the general public is again requested not to undertake any fresh building violations/encroachment in the periphery otherwise the same is liable to be demolished.
During the last week about 30 demolition orders have been passed by the SDM( East) under Periphery Control Act and more demolition will be carried out soon.
