Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s martyrdom day:  The martyrdom day of the fifth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, is being observed with great devotion and religious fervour at Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. Thousands of devotees from across Punjab and other parts of the country have arrived to pay their respects and participate in the commemorative events.

Despite the intense summer heat, the flow of pilgrims has remained steady since early morning. Devotees gathered in large numbers to offer prayers and seek blessings at the holy shrine, reflecting the deep spiritual significance of the day in Sikh history.

To facilitate the visiting sangat, arrangements for serving chilled sweetened water, commonly known as chabeel, have been made at multiple locations within the Sri Harmandir Sahib complex. Special measures have also been undertaken to provide relief from the heat and ensure the comfort of pilgrims.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has put in place additional facilities to manage the large turnout and maintain smooth movement of devotees throughout the day.

Religious programmes dedicated to the martyrdom anniversary began with the culmination of Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib, followed by Gurbani Kirtan and devotional gatherings. The main commemorative events have been organised at Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib, while similar religious functions are also being held at Gurdwara Shaheedan and Gurdwara Santokhsar Sahib.

Across Amritsar, various gurdwaras have arranged special prayer meetings and chabeel services, with volunteers serving refreshments to residents and visitors in remembrance of Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s supreme sacrifice.

Meanwhile, a special jatha of Sikh devotees visiting historic Sikh shrines in Pakistan is observing the martyrdom anniversary at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore. The delegation is scheduled to return to India on June 19 after participating in the religious ceremonies.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji is remembered for his unparalleled sacrifice, commitment to religious freedom, and contribution to Sikh philosophy. His martyrdom remains a symbol of courage, faith, and service, inspiring generations of Sikhs around the world.
