PTC Web Desk: In a dramatic turn of events, the case of a 19-year-old girl who had accused her fiancé and his friend of sexual assault and leaking objectionable videos has taken a new direction. The complainant and the accused families have reached a mutual settlement, describing the incident as a “misunderstanding.”

Earlier, the police had registered a case against both accused following the girl's allegations. However, after a series of discussions between the families, both sides declared the matter resolved.

Avtar Singh Sandhu, father of one of the accused, said, “Today, both our families have resolved the dispute amicably. Any grievances we had have been cleared. Whatever was being said was baseless. If my son has made a mistake, I apologise for it.”

The girl also released a video statement, clarifying her stance. “The things being circulated on social media were due to a misunderstanding. After sitting together and talking, we realised the issue has been resolved. I do not want any further legal action,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Punjab State Women Commission had taken suo motu notice of the incident, calling it “unfortunate.” The commission had directed the Jalandhar SSP to submit a report by August 22 after conducting an inquiry within two days.
