Pathankot-Jalandhar highway accident: Two dead after private bus runs over riders, bus torched by angry crowd
Two persons were killed after a private bus lost control and ran over motorcycle and scooter riders on the Pathankot-Jalandhar National Highway. Angry locals later set the bus on fire
PTC Web Desk: Two persons lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Pathankot-Jalandhar National Highway on Wednesday morning after a speeding private bus lost control and hit several people standing along the roadside.
The incident took place around 10 am near Kaunterpur Chowk, close to Sandipani Gurukul School. Lakshmi Travels bus was travelling from Jalandhar to Jammu when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The bus rammed into a motorcycle, a scooter and also hit people standing near the roadside.

Two injured victims die on the way to hospital
Four persons sustained serious injuries in the accident. Two of the injured, who were travelling on the motorcycle and scooter, were rushed to Raj Neuro Hospital. However, they succumbed to their injuries while being taken for treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Singh, son of Darshan Singh, and Arun Kumar, son of Vijay Kumar, both residents of Kaunterpur.
Angry crowd sets bus on fire
The accident triggered outrage among local residents. Soon after the incident, angry villagers stopped the bus and set it on fire.
Police from the Nangal Bhoor police station reached the spot after receiving information and brought the situation under control. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident, while further legal action is underway.
