Punjab Government launches bilingual WhatsApp chatbot-cum-helpline for 'e-GST'

Chandigarh, 22 December: A bilingual WhatsApp chatbot-cum-helpline number 9160500033 was launched today by Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, Finance, Excise and Taxes Minister, Punjab, to resolve the queries and issues of taxpayers related to Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Inaugurating this service during the monthly district-wise review meeting of the Tax Department, Harpal Singh Cheema said that anyone can WhatsApp this chatbot in Punjabi or English to get information on various aspects of GST. He said that this initiative has been started as part of the policy to strengthen the feedback mechanism as well as ease the delivery of services to the tax payers.

Giving information about the facilities available on this chatbot, the Finance Minister said that any citizen or businessman can register, return, composition, tax payment, e-way bill, e-invoice, input tax credit, information related to citizen through WhatsApp on '9160500033'. One can get information about the office or officer, general information or suggestions about GST. He said that information can also be obtained about technical problems or complaints related to GST portal through this service.

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister also reviewed the district level performance of the Tax Department. Appreciating the performance Cheema advised the district level officers to personally 'learn from each other's performance so that they can further enhance their professional strength'. He asked the officers to adopt a soft-spoken approach towards the tax payers and adopt innovative measures to assure the tax payers that the department was working for their convenience.
