PTC Web Desk: In a significant reshuffle of Cabinet portfolios, the Punjab Government has reassigned the crucial Power Department. According to an official notification issued on Monday, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora has been entrusted with the Power portfolio, in addition to his existing responsibilities, while Harbhajan Singh ETO has been divested of the department and will now only retain the Public Works (B&R) portfolio.

Earlier, Sanjeev Arora was handling Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs. With the latest changes, he will now manage four key portfolios – Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion, NRI Affairs, and Power.

On the other hand, Harbhajan Singh ETO, who earlier held charge of Public Works (B&R) and Power, has been stripped of the Power Department and will only oversee Public Works (B&R) going forward.

The notification, issued by Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, clarified that the rest of the portfolios already allocated to other Cabinet ministers remain unchanged.

The reshuffle comes on the advice of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and is being seen as an important political move, especially since the Power Department is one of the most critical ministries in Punjab, directly impacting both industry and the public.
