PTC Web Desk:  In a shocking incident in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, a 25-year-old kabaddi player, Tejpal Singh, was brutally beaten and shot dead on Friday afternoon near the SSP office in Jagraon, barely 250 meter away. The attack, which lasted nearly 20 minutes, has raised serious questions about law and order in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident began as a minor road accident when Tejpal’s car brushed against two vehicles carrying the assailants. Following the collision, around seven to eight men stepped out of the vehicles and began thrashing Tejpal on the roadside. Despite public presence, the assault continued for nearly 20 minutes. Before fleeing the scene, one of the attackers drew a pistol and shot Tejpal in the chest, killing him on the spot.

Tejpal Singh, a resident of Giddarwindi village, was known for participating in local circle kabaddi tournaments. The police have confirmed that the attackers have been identified, and the murder appears to be the result of a personal rivalry.

Speaking to the media, SSP Ankur Gupta said the fight broke out over old enmity. The incident occurred around 2.50 pm on Hari Singh Road, where Tejpal and another man named Honey got into a heated argument that escalated into violence.

The suspects, identified as Honey and Kala from Romi village, have been booked. Police teams have been dispatched to arrest them.

Another person named Gagan was also reportedly in the vehicle with the assailants.

The police have registered a case of murder and illegal possession of arms, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest all the accused.
