Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney announced that Punjab Government would offer a government job to Jawanda’s wife and bear educational expenses of his children
PTC Web Desk: Hundreds of people today gathered at Pona village in Ludhiana district for Antim Ardas of late Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda. The event was marked by emotional moments, especially when Jawanda’s younger daughter, Amanat Kaur, paid tribute to her father with heartfelt words.
“My father was the best dad in the world. He always called me his lucky charm and told me he loved me very much. Now he’s gone far away from me. What happened to him should never happen to anyone's dad,” said Amanat, her voice trembling with emotion.
During the ceremony, Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney announced that the Punjab Government would offer a government job to Jawanda’s wife and bear the educational expenses of his children. He added that he would soon meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to discuss the arrangements.
Several noted Punjabi artists, including Resham Anmol, Ranjit Bawa, Satinder Satti, Sachin Ahuja, Boota Mohammad, Guggu Gill, Ammy Virk, Kanwar Grewal, Kulwinder Billa, Harbhajan Mann and Gurpreet Ghuggi, were present to pay their respects.
Actor Guggu Gill said talents like Jawanda are rare and that he had achieved immense fame at a young age. Singer Inderjit Nikku described his passing as a huge loss to the entire Punjabi fraternity, saying, “Such a death should never have happened.” Artist Boota Mohammad added philosophically, “We must accept the will of God. He neither looks at a ripe nor an unripe crop.”
Rajvir's sister expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended Antim Ardas. She said, “You all know that my beloved and elder brother Rajvir was like a father to me after our father’s death. It was my dream to see my brother become a police officer, an officer even greater than our father and an even better singer. Our mother raised him like a lion, and he shared a very special bond with her.”
Meanwhile, the Panchkula police have dismissed reports that Jawanda’s death was caused by a Bolero car collision. Investigators confirmed that there was no such vehicle present at the site. According to officials, on September 27, Jawanda was riding his motorcycle from Baddi to Shimla with five friends when his bike collided with a cow near Pinjore, causing him to fall. He was rushed to a hospital but could not be saved.
A petition has since been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking a detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding his death.
