Punjab Panchayat Elections: Long queues of enthusiastic voters outside polling booths

Enthusiastic voters queued up outside the polling booths in the chilling winter morning amid dense fog to cast their votes in more than 13,276 villages on Sunday. Amid heavy security, the polling began in 13,000 panchayats in Punjab.

Enthusiastic voters including many women were seen standing in long queues early in the morning.

The voting began at 8 am and will continue till 4 pm. The counting of the votes will start after the polling.

According to PTC News, all necessary arrangements have been done for smooth and transparent elections. More than 8,000 candidates are contesting for Sarpanches and panches posts today. Nearly 1.27 crore voters are taking part in the polling today.

At least 17,268 polling booths have been set up and also, 86,340 personnel are deployed on duty today.
