After completing their religious visit, they were returning towards Sangrur when Rohit expressed a desire to stop at Lohand Khad and take a bath. The group then went into the water.

Shubham said while they were bathing, Rohit suddenly moved into deeper water and began struggling. Shubham reportedly tried to rescue him, but the strong current made it difficult to reach him. Rohit was eventually swept further into the water and disappeared.

After receiving information about the drowning, Kiratpur Sahib police reached the spot and started looking into the incident. Recovery efforts are underway.

 Salman Khan, alias Ladi

Earlier, a Punjab Police constable was swept away by the strong current of water at Lohand Khad near Kiratpur Sahib in June. The deceased was identified as Salman Khan, alias Ladi, who was posted at Division No. 7 police station in Ludhiana. According to family members, he had travelled with his wife, sister, niece and brother-in-law to pay obeisance at the shrines of Mata Naina Devi and Anandpur Sahib.

While returning from the pilgrimage, the family stopped at Lohand Khad near Kiratpur Sahib. During a bath in the stream, Salman’s brother-in-law, Puneet, reportedly lost balance and began drowning. Salman immediately jumped in to rescue him. Although Puneet was successfully pulled to safety, Salman was caught in the strong water current and was swept away.
