SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal shows weapon used to attack Sukhbir Singh Badal, stitches on his arm
PTC News Desk: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Sunday showed the weapon allegedly used to attack party president Sukhbir Singh Badal at a gurdwara in Nanded, Maharashtra. Meanwhile, she also wrote a letter to Unione Home Minister Amit Shah demanding NIA investgation into the matter.
SAD MP also took a dig at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for not even condemning the second assassination attempt on former Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, alleging that the AAP-led Punjab government and state police had “hushed up” the earlier case.
While demanding high-level NIA probe, she also showed the weapon reportedly used to carry out the heinous attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal. She said, “The attacker aimed at his chest with a 1.5-foot-long sharp weapon, but as Sukhbir Singh Badal raised his hand to defend himself, the blade pierced right through his forearm.” She also showed a photo of one side of Sukhbir's stitched-up arm.
While calling the attack a well planned conspiracy, she said that the attacks are being carried out to disturb the peace and harmony of Punjab.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal demands NIA probe
In the letter Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that a conspiracy to assassinate Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal was hatched on August 13, 2026, causing him critical injuries and that the consequences could have been fatal had an alert security personnel not risked his own life to prevent the assailant from carrying out his lethal intent. The security personnel was also injured in the process.
"I write this against the backdrop of the dastardly and heinous assassination bid against my husband and President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal, on August 13, 2026. I write with a mix of personal pain and profound concern for our society, our state of Punjab and our country, particularly over the manner in which violence is being normalised and even justified by persons holding positions of power in Punjab, apparently as a means of pursuing political battles," she wrote in the letter.
