Punjab cop posted with counter intelligence arrested with over 3 kg heroin, weapons in Ferozepur
Police are now investigating where he obtained such a large quantity of drugs and weapons and where he was taking them.
PTC News Desk: A Punjab Police inspector posted with the Counter Intelligence unit has been arrested in Ferozepur with over 3 kg heroine and weapons. At the time of his arrest, police recovered 3.350 kg of heroin, along with six pistols, four magazines and 17 cartridges.
Police also seized the accused's i20 car and six mobile phones. The accused has been identified as 56-year-old Baldev Singh. Ferozepur Police have seized all the illegal items recovered from him and started further investigation.
A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act and Arms Act. Police are now investigating where he obtained such a large quantity of drugs and weapons and where he was taking them. They are also trying to determine how long he had been involved in the illegal trade.
The SSP said police suspect that the accused may have links with Pakistan. He is currently being questioned as part of the investigation.
Ferozepur SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said the investigation into the case is still underway. He said it would be clear only after the investigation whether the recovered drug consignment had been brought recently or had been kept there for some time. Police are also trying to trace the source of the recovered weapons.
The SSP said the mobile phones recovered from the accused have been sent to a technical team for examination. Once the analysis is complete, police will find out which phone numbers were contacted from the devices and gather other important information linked to them.
