SC appoints three-member mediation panel for Ayodhya; Know members of panel
The Supreme Court referred Ayodhya dispute to mediation and appointed three mediators on Friday to find an appropriate solution to this dispute. The court appointed spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Chennai based advocate Shriram Panchu and ex-judge Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim. A five-judge Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has passed the order of mediation in the Ayodhya case.

He further ordered that the proceedings would take place in Faizabad. The mediators could start their work within a week. The court has ordered them to complete the task in 8 weeks. The bench also ordered that media could not report during the proceedings of the mediation. The Uttar Pradesh government is ordered to provide necessary facilities in Faizabad for the mediators.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, on behalf of Uttar Pradesh government, had opposed the mediation support. He told that it was not advisable in this dispute.

The first member of the mediation panel is Justice FM Khalifulah. He started his career by practising labour law. In 2000, he was later appointed as a judge of Madras High Court. He became the member of the High court of Jammu and Kashmir in 2011. Just two months later, he was appointed as Chief Justice. In 2012, he was named to the Supreme Court of India. Justice FM Khalifulah retired from the Supreme Court of India in 2016. He had disposed of around 65,000 cases during his 11-year stint in the court.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is the second member of the mediation panel appointed by the Supreme Court. He is a renowned spiritual leader. He has founded the Art of Living Foundation. His foundation Art of Living and International Association for Human Values has a presence across 155 countries across the globe. He was named the fifth most powerful leader in India by Forbes Magazine. He had played an important role in bringing about the Anti- Corruption movement and inter-faith harmony in India

The third member of the mediation panel is Sriram Panchu. He is an active Mediator. He also founded Concord Mediation. It is a firm that offers mediation and med-arb services. He had mediated a large number of complex and high-value disputes across many departments like a commercial, corporate and contractual dispute.
