Poonch terror attack: In a tragic incident, two vehicles of an Indian Air Force convoy came under heavy firing by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch area. One Air Force personnel lost his life while four others were injured. 

The attack took place on Saturday.

• Additional Indian Army forces arrived at the Jarra Wali Gali (JWG) in Poonch late on Saturday night.
• According to media reports, officials suspect the same group of terrorists who ambushed troops in Bufliaz, Poonch, on December 21 last year, killing four soldiers and injuring three.
• One of the trucks in the IAF convoy received the most damage from the attack, with several bullets striking its windscreen and side. Terrorists were armed with AK assault rifles, reports said.
• The incident occurred in Sanai village, and the injured personnel were immediately transported to the Command Hospital in Udhampur, where one of them died as a result of his injuries.
• Following the attack, the local Rashtriya Rifles unit launched cordon and search operations in the area, with help from the Army and police, to apprehend the perpetrators.

The IAF confirmed the incident on X, stating that the targeted convoy had been secured and emphasising the ongoing investigation. "An Indian Air Force vehicle convoy was attacked by terrorists in the Poonch district."

The vehicles have been secured within the air base in the general area of Shahsitar.
