Apple iPhone 18 launched: Price in India, specs, features and all you need to know; first foldable iPhone announced
Apple has launched its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, globally at its ‘Surprise and Shine’ event on Wednesday.
PTC News Desk: Apple has launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at its ‘Surprise and Shine’ event on Wednesday. The new models bring several hardware upgrades over last year’s iPhone 17 Pro series.
Both smartphones are powered by Apple’s latest A20 Pro chipset and feature the company’s new in-house C2 modem. Apple claims the iPhone 18 Pro can offer up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max can last for up to 30 hours.
First foldable iPhone announced
Apple has launched its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, globally at its ‘Surprise and Shine’ event on Wednesday. The new foldable phone will be available in two colour options.
The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple’s latest A20 Pro chipset, which is built using TSMC’s 2nm process technology. The same processor also powers the newly launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max Price and Availability
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 (around ₹1,14,000) for the 256GB model, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 (around ₹1,23,000) with the same storage capacity.
In India, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is priced from ₹1,79,900. Both prices are for the 256GB variants. The phones are also available with 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.
The new iPhones come in Black, Silver, Glacier and the new Burgundy colour options. Pre-orders will open on September 12, while sales will begin from September 18.
iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max specification
The iPhone 18 Pro series runs on iOS 27. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max features a larger 6.9-inch screen.
Both models are powered by the A20 Pro, a 2nm-generation chip with a six-core CPU and seven-core GPU. They also feature Apple’s new C2 modem.
For photography, both phones come with a triple rear camera setup. This includes a 48-megapixel Fusion main camera with variable aperture, a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 48-megapixel 2x telephoto lens. The front camera has an 18-megapixel sensor with autofocus.
Apple has also updated the Dynamic Island, which can now display up to three Live Activities at the same time. The new models also feature a vapour chamber designed to improve heat management during use.
iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max camera features
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max come with a triple rear camera setup, led by a 48-megapixel Fusion main sensor with variable aperture. This is the first time Apple has introduced adjustable aperture control on an iPhone.
The new sensor is designed to improve low-light photography. The Camera app also gets Pro Controls, allowing users to manually adjust settings such as aperture, shutter speed and white balance. Apple has also upgraded its Photographic Styles feature.
The camera system also includes a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens. On the front, both phones have an 18-megapixel camera with autofocus and Centre Stage support.
