Customer alleges TCL gave him refurbished replacement TV that failed within a month

Vikram Singh says he will have to move consumer grievance authority if the matter isn’t resolved at the earliest

PTC Web Desk:  A customer has accused television maker TCL of supplying a refurbished set as a replacement for his faulty TV, which he says also broke down roughly a month after it was delivered.

Vikram Singh made the claims in a complaint addressed to the company. According to the complaint, his original television developed a fault, after which the company sent him a replacement. That unit, he says, stopped working about four weeks later.

He alleged that a service technician who inspected the replacement recommended changing its panel. He alleged that the set handed to him was not new but a refurbished one.

In the complaint, he has asked TCL to give him a brand-new television of the same model, or an equivalent one, and to make sure the warranty on the product is honoured.

He has given the company seven days to settle the matter. Failing that, he has warned, he may take the dispute to the consumer grievance authority.

TCL had not responded to the allegations at the time of writing. The claims made in the complaint have not been independently verified.

This report will be updated if the company issues a statement.
