PTC News Desk: The launch of the highly anticipated Axiom‑4 mission—set to carry Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla to the International Space Station—has been delayed for the third time. ISRO announced on Monday that unfavourable weather around the launch site forced the delay, and SpaceX also cited high winds in the ascent corridor as the reason it could not proceed before Wednesday.
Originally slated for June 10, 2025, the mission is now planned for lift-off on June 11 at 5:30 PM IST from Kennedy Space Center.
The Ax‑4 crew—comprising personnel from India, the US, Poland, and Hungary—is a joint venture by Axiom Space, NASA, SpaceX and ISRO, and stands as a significant moment in India’s renewed human spaceflight efforts, occurring more than 40 years after Rakesh Sharma’s historic spaceflight in 1984.
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla—an accomplished IAF pilot and Isro-trained astronaut—will pilot the mission under the command of former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, alongside specialists from Hungary and Poland.
