Six new Rajya Sabha MPs take oath

New Delhi, April 4: Six newly-elected Rajya Sabha MPs took oath as members of the House on Monday. The new members of Rajya Sabha include Assam BJP's candidate Pabitra Margherita and its ally party UPPL candidate Rwngwra Narzary. The new set of MP's who took oath on Monday further included two from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), one each from the Congress, the Communist Party of India (CPI), Kerala, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist). S Phangnon Konyak (BJP, Nagaland); Pabitra Margherita (BJP, Assam); Jebi Mather Hisham (Congress, Kerala); Rwngwra Narzary (UPPL, Assam); Sandosh Kumar (CPI, Kerala); A A Rahim (CPI-M, Kerala) were among the members who took oath in the upper house of the Parliament. New members in Rajya Sabha Konyak of the Bharatiya Janata Party is the Mahila Morcha president of the party's Nagaland unit. It is worth mentioning that Konyak has become the first woman MP and the first Rajya Sabha MP for the BJP from Nagaland. Margarita, an Ahom from Upper Assam, is a member secretary of the Assam Government's State Level Advisory Committee (SLAC) for Student and Youth Welfare. Narzary was also the former president of the ABSU (All Bodoland Students Union) and is credited with playing a crucial part in the signing of the 'Third Bodo Peace Accord.' A A Rahim of the CPI (M) is the national president of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). Jebi Mather Hisham, president of the State Mahila Congress, is a vice-chairperson of the Aluva municipality. New members in Rajya Sabha Santosh Kumar of the CPI is the Kannur District Secretary and a member of the CPI State Council.
