Himachal flood horror: Watch scary video of cars stuck in thick puddle in Mandi
Videos circulating on social media show vehicles partially submerged, stranded in muddy water
PTC Web Desk: Disturbing visuals have emerged from Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh, where unrelenting rainfall triggered a flood-like situation, claiming at least two lives and leaving widespread destruction in its wake. Videos circulating on social media show vehicles partially submerged, stranded in muddy water as torrential downpours lashed the region. In one video shared by ANI, cars are seen trapped in deep puddles, while anxious locals gather around. Water can also be seen gushing from the roadside, indicating the intensity of the downpour.
Municipal Commissioner Rohit Rathour confirmed the tragic loss of lives and ongoing rescue and relief operations. “Debris from upper areas has flowed into the lower regions due to heavy rain, possibly caused by a cloudburst. Two bodies have been recovered near Jail Road,” he told the media.
Among the worst-hit infrastructures is the Zonal Hospital in Mandi, whose access road is now blocked after drains overflowed. The flooding and multiple landslides have disrupted daily life, traffic movement, and access to essential services.
The authorities, including local police, NDRF, and Home Guards, have been deployed across affected areas to manage the crisis and assist stranded residents.
Since the onset of the monsoon on July 20, Himachal Pradesh has reported 90 deaths and 35 missing persons, with Mandi district recording the highest toll. The cumulative loss to the state is estimated to be around Rs 1,523 crore, according to preliminary government data.
