Instagram's global vanishing act triggers Twitter storm as users vent

New Delhi, June 9: Instagram, owned by Meta, experienced a brief outage on Friday, affecting thousands of users worldwide, including in India. The disruption was caused by a technical issue that impacted the app's services.

According to DownDetector, a platform that tracks online outages, 44 percent of users encountered problems with the app, 32 percent faced issues with the web version, and 24 percent experienced difficulties with server connectivity.

Users swiftly took to Twitter to share their frustrations and report the problems they encountered on Instagram, using memes and GIFs to express their discontent.

"Instagram down again? Stories video and music not loading? #instagramdown," tweeted one user.

"Me thinking my account is hacked cause Instagram is down AGAIN," replied another user.

"Congratulations India, everyone is going to Twitter to check if Instagram is down #instagramdown," commented a user.

"Is anyone on Instagram experiencing issues with stories? Music or video not loading on their stories, or is it just me?" questioned a user in a tweet.

Last month, Instagram faced a similar outage that lasted over an hour. Users encountered errors stating that the app couldn't refresh, while the website went blank for some users.

A spokesperson from Instagram acknowledged that a technical issue caused difficulties in accessing the platform globally.
