Turban-wearing men allege entry denied at Austria hotel, call it ‘racism’ and religious discrimination

PTC Web Desk: Two men have taken to social media alleging that they were refused entry to a hotel in Salzburg, Austria, because they were wearing turbans.

The men described the alleged incident as an act of religious discrimination and racism. They also claimed that they were not offered a refund for their bookings.

Jaspreet Singh, a stock market trader from Mohali, Punjab, said the hotel staff told them that turbans were not permitted under the dress code applicable to the premises.

Singh said he was told that the dress code was mentioned online. However, he questioned the policy, saying he had travelled to several countries, including across Europe, and had never faced a similar situation.

According to the men's account, the hotel maintained that turbans were not allowed on its premises.

Speaking about the refund, Singh said he was not concerned about getting the money back, but objected to what he described as discriminatory treatment.

The allegations have since been shared widely on social media, with users debating whether the hotel's reported dress policy amounted to religious discrimination.
