Vistara clarifies about emergency landing of Amritsar bound flight in Delhi

New Delhi, February 17: A major tragedy was averted on Thursday as a Vistara flight made an emergency landing after a technical snag was detected.

The Vistara flight carrying 146 passengers was en route to Amritsar and safely returned to Delhi after detection of a technical issue.

Vistara Spokesperson told PTC News, “A technical snag was detected on Vistara flight UK 697 operating Delhi to Amritsar on 17 February 2022. As a precautionary step, the pilots decided to turn-back and landed safely at the IGI Airport. Another aircraft was immediately arranged to fly the passengers to Amritsar which took off at 1330hrs post a technical inspection. Inconvenience to passengers is deeply regretted. Safety of our customers and staff is our top priority.”

The emergency was sounded at runway no. 28 of terminal number 2 which is bound for domestic flights, while teams of police and fire brigade personnel were also pressed into service.

Six fire engines were rushed to the Indira Gandhi International Airport after getting information about the emergency landing, according to fire department officials.

The flight landed safely and "no one was hurt in the incident" said the authorities.

Vistara further expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers and stated its commitment to the safety of its staff and customers.
