Warden of college hostel held on sodomy charge

Warden of Chandigarh Group of Colleges' (CGC) hostel has been arrested on Wednesday on the charges of sodomy. The action was taken after a first-year male student complained of sodomy. The suspect has been identified as Sanjiv Kumar (44).

After receiving the complaint, the police arrested the accused from the hostel. He has been booked under sections 377, 342, 506 and 511 of the IPC.

The complaint was lodged by a 19-year-old student at the Sohana police station. He hailed from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. He was a first student of Bachelor of Hospitality and Hotel Administration. In his complaint, he told that when the victim was sleeping in his room, the accused came and took him to his room. The warden then tried to grab the victim with wrong intentions. When he resisted, the warden threatened him to implicate him in a false case.

The victim somehow managed to escape from the room. He narrated the entire incident to his friend and then informed the police. Following the complaint, the police arrested Sanjiv Kumar. The police took him to the police station. He was produced before a local court. The court remanded him in the judicial custody.

The college authorities immediately terminated the warden services. CGC president Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal confirmed the termination.
