Basant Panchami 2021: PM Modi, Sukhbir Badal and others extend wishes

Basant Panchami festival marks the preparation for the arrival of spring. It is celebrated by people in various ways.

It is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright half of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Magha, which typically falls in late January or February.

Basant Panchami also marks the start of preparation for Holika and festival Holi, which takes place forty days later.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to the nation. He tweeted, "बसंत पंचमी और सरस्वती पूजा के पावन अवसर पर आप सभी को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं।"

SAD President Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal also wished the country on the occasion of Basant Panchami. He tweeted, "Wishing you happiness, good fortune, peace & progress on the auspicious occasion of #BasantPanchami. Happy #Basant!"

Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh also tweeted on Basant Panchami. He wrote, "Warm wishes to everyone on the auspicious and joyful occasion of Basant Panchami."

SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal also took twitter to extend her wishes on the auspicious day. She tweeted, "May the vibrance of this auspicious day fill your life with knowledge and health! Wishing you all a Happy #BasantPanchami!" along with a joyful Basant Panchami picture.

This festival is dedicated to goddess Saraswati, who is the goddess of knowledge, language, music and all arts. She symbolizes creative energy and power in all its form, including longing and love .
