  • Get up early and take a bath. Wear fresh clothes.
  • Make arrangements for the puja.
  • Cover one of the chowkis in red cloth and place the idols of Shri Ganesha, Lord Vishnu and his consort, Lakshmi.
  • Light a lamp facing south.
  • Begin puja by invoking Lord Ganesha
  • After completing the puja, offer flowers, Dakshina, and a sweet to Lord Ganesha.
  • Offer prayers to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
  • After prayers, ask your brother to sit on the other chowki facing north-west.
  • Your brother has to cover his head.
  • Apply a tika on your brother's forehead.
  • Give coconut but without its shell to your brother, ask him to hold in his right hand. Tie the kalava around his wrist.
  • Perform aarti, put akshat on your brother's forehead, and give him sweets to eat.
