Maruti Suzuki, India's foremost car manufacturer, surpasses production of over 3 cr units in India

Make in India initiative: Maruti Suzuki, India's foremost car manufacturer, has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing the production of over 3 crore car units in India. This achievement sets a record as the fastest among all Suzuki production bases, accomplished in just 40 years and 4 months since production commenced in December 1983.

The manufacturing process took place at Maruti Suzuki's facilities in Manesar, Gurugram, and Hansalpur, Gujarat. Notably, the Manesar plant played a crucial role in this feat, contributing to over 2.68 crore vehicles manufactured in Haryana, while the Suzuki Motor Gujarat plant produced over 32 lakh vehicles.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed optimism about India's burgeoning passenger vehicle market, asserting plans to invest further and increase annual production capacity to 4 million units by FY 2030-31.

The company remains steadfast in its commitment to 'Make in India,' bolstering operations to cater to both domestic and global markets. Maruti Suzuki also plays a significant role in India's automobile exports, contributing nearly 40% to the total vehicle exports from the country.

Key models such as iconic Maruti 800, which revolutionised mobility in India, and other successful models such as Alto 800, Alto K10, Swift, Wagon R, Dzire, Omni, Baleno, Eeco, Brezza, and Ertiga, have been instrumental in achieving this milestone.

Since commencing exports in 1987, Maruti Suzuki has maintained its position as a leading contributor to India's automobile exports, emphasising 'Make in India' initiatives and customer-centric strategies, thereby setting industry benchmarks.
