BWF World Championships 2022: Japan is set to host the 27th edition of the Badminton World Championships or BWF World Championship 2022 from August 22 to 28, 2022. In the 45-year history of the tournament, the world championship will be held for the first time in Tokyo, Japan. The competition will feature 5 different events with a total of 364 athletes from 46 different countries. The Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium will host all of the tournament's games. A team of 27 athletes (seven singles players and ten doubles teams) will represent India at the 2022 BWF World Championship. The Indian shuttlers are in good spirits and will be going into the 2022 BWF world championship with confidence after their incredible performance at the Birmingham Games. Sadly, due to an ankle injury, PV Sindhu, the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal at the BWF, will not be taking part in the 27th edition. He will be aiming for his second medal at the World Championship after his amazing performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and winning a gold medal. Kidambi Srikanth: After taking home silver in the world championship last year, Srikanth went on a losing streak and was eliminated in the first round of the Singapore and Indonesian Opens. He has established himself as a worthy competitor in the 2022 Commonwealth Games after taking home silver in the mixed doubles and bronze in the men's singles. Saina Nehwal: The two-time Commonwealth Games champion and 2017 BWF bronze medalist Saina Nehwal will make a comeback at the badminton world championship in Tokyo in 2022 after being forced to withdraw from the Birmingham Games due to injury. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty: The duo who won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, will be back in action. At the BWF world championship, both athletes will be attempting to win their first medal and increase their country's final tally.
