Case against Punjab Police for 'harassing' journalist in Kejriwal-Mann press conference
New Delhi, April 30: A case has been filed against the officials of Punjab police in connection with the alleged assault on a journalist in the national capital, according to Delhi police sources. As per the reports, Punjab police officials allegedly assaulted a Delhi-based journalist during a press conference addressed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann. The press conference took place at the Imperial Hotel on April 26. The case was filed by Delhi Police in response to a complaint submitted by the journalist. Journalist Naresh Vats of the "Hindustan Post" claimed that despite showing the cops his PIB card, he was denied entry to the joint press conference. When confronted, the journalist said that Punjab police officers present at the Imperial Hotel physically and verbally harassed him. "I showed them my PIB (Press Information Bureau) card. But on the pretext of checking they took it and after a few minutes they told me that I was not a reporter and will not be allowed to enter the press conference room," the journalist claimed. In his complaint, Vats further alleged that no action was taken by either of the Chief Ministers despite being informed about the incident. Earlier this week, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann visited a mohalla clinic, a government hospital, and schools in Delhi to learn about the best practices of the AAP model of governance.
