CBI to probe post matric scholarship scam, ex-minister Dharamsot’s role under scanner
Chandigarh, August 18: Punjab government on Thursday gave consent to handover post matric scholarship scam to CBI. With this decision troubles will mount for former Congress minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot who is allegedly involved in scam as this scandal came to light when Dharamsot was the Social Security Minister.

However, Dharamsot was reportedly given clean chit when Captain Amarinder Singh was the CM.
CM Bhagwant Mann had recently got all the files related to the scholarship scam. According to sources, the CBI has written a letter to the Punjab government that they want to investigate it. On which CM Mann agreed. All the files will be handed over to them as soon as the CBI starts the formal investigation.
In Punjab, post matric scholarship is given to SC students with the help of the center. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was the Minister of Social Security in the Punjab Government when Captain Amarinder Singh was the CM. There were allegations against him of rigged distribution of scholarship scam. No record was found for distributing Rs 39 crore. Suspicion was raised that the amount was siphoned off in the name of colleges that do not even exist. Not only this, 16.91 crores more were released to the colleges and universities from which 8 crores were to be recovered.
Sadhu Singh Dharamsot is currently lodged in Nabha Jail. CM Bhagwant Mann's government has caught him in a corruption case in the forest department. He is accused of taking a commission of Rs 500 per tree for cutting and planting trees. Apart from this, while contesting the election, he hid information from the Election Commission about a 500-yard residential plot in the posh area of Mohali registered in his wife’s name.
