Centre urges SC to handover control to AIFF from Committee of Administrators
New Delhi, 22 August: The Centre has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the Committee of Administrators (CoA) and urged that the day-to-day management of the All India Football Federation be handled by the AIFF administration led by the acting Secretary General.
The Centre has asked the Supreme Court to issue an order directing the CoA to submit the final draft constitution for AIFF to the Court by the end of August 23, 2022, and that the CoA's term be declared to be complete as of August 23. The Supreme Court had formed a three-member CoA to oversee the AIFF's operations.
The Centre, in an affidavit filed with the Supreme Court, stated that one of FIFA's concerns was that the administration and management of the AIFF be handled by a legally elected body rather than a third party (CoA), and that the CoA's tenure should be terminated.
FIFA was also concerned that the AIFF general assembly adopt an independent electoral committee (RO) to oversee the election of a new executive committee.

The international football body also stated that the election should take place at the earliest and an elected body should resume administering the functioning of AIFF.
The AIFF constitution is to be changed in accordance with the requirements of FIFA and the AFC and the same should be approved by the AIFF General assembly without interference from a third party (CoA), the Centre told the Supreme Court pointing out the concern of FIFA.
The Centre has petitioned the Supreme Court in response to the FIFA Council's decision to suspend the AIFF with immediate effect, thus stripping India of the right to host the Under-17 Women's World Cup in October.
