Chandigarh on alert as sirens sounded; air warning issued over potential attack threat
PTC News Desk: The Union Territory of Chandigarh has been put on high alert after sirens were heard on Friday after air warning was issued by Air Force station in Chandigarh over a possible attack by Pakistan. The residents are also advised to exercise caution and stay indoors signalling them to take possible precautionary measures.
The office of the District Commissioner (DC), Chandigarh, has urged all citizens to remain indoors and avoid balconies, rooftops, and open areas until further notice.
“This is a precautionary measure in view of an air warning received from the Air Force Station. Citizens are advised to stay calm, remain inside their homes, and await further instructions from official sources,” said a statement from the DC’s office.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and security measures have been heightened. Emergency services have also been put on standby.
