Punjab bomb threat: Jalandhar's APJ School receives bomb threat email, third time in two months; probe underway
Punjab bomb threat: APJ School in Jalandhar received bomb threat on Thursday prompting immediate security response. The school administration informed the police following which teams along with bomb disposal squad reached the spot and evacuated the entire campus.
As a precautionary measure, students were sent home to avoid any untoward incident. This the third time, a bomb threat has been received by the school in last two months.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is also in Jalandhar today, due to which high security arrangements are already in place.
Notably the bomb threat follows explosions targeting defence establishments in Jalandhar and Amritsar on Wednesday, triggering high alert across Punjab.
Parents said they received calls from the school informing them that classes had been suspended due to security reasons and that police had arrived at the campus. Some parents said the school declared a holiday around 9 am citing security concerns. They also received messages asking them to pick up their children by 10 am. The sudden messages from the school left many parents worried and anxious.
The entire area was cordoned off and search operation was underway. However no suspicious or explosive item has been found on the campus so far.
The police is working in close coordination with the cyber teams to zero in on the source of this email.
