Amritpal Singh's mother confronts CM Mann over son's continued detention despite NSA lapse; watch video
PTC Web Desk: A tense moment was reported during ‘Shukrana Yatra’ led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Rayya, when Balwinder Kaur, mother of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, confronted the Chief Minister over her son’s continued detention.
Balwinder Kaur managed to breach the heavy security cordon and reach close to the Chief Minister’s vehicle amid a large gathering of supporters. She held Mann’s hand and questioned why her son had not been brought back to Punjab, despite the reported expiry of provisions under the National Security Act (NSA).
The Chief Minister was seen listening to her concerns but did not provide an immediate or clear response at the spot.
In an emotional appeal, Balwinder Kaur stated that her son, too, is someone’s child and urged the Chief Minister to understand a mother’s pain. As she felt her concerns were being ignored, she began raising slogans at the venue, drawing attention from the crowd and security personnel.
No official statement has yet been issued by the Punjab government regarding the matter.
