Schools shut and exams cancelled as coronavirus fear spreads

While the Punjab Government directed all the schools and colleges to remain closed till March 31 amid coronavirus scare, some of the private schools have taken the decision to cancel the final examinations. The decision has been taken in the wake of coronavirus (COVID 19) as a precautionary measure. According to information, few private schools have decided to cancel the examination scheduled for March 19 and 21. The result of these two papers will be decided on the basis of half-yearly, Monday Tests and other parameters. Parents have been asked to keep their children at home to prepare well for the next classes. In the meanwhile, the private schools have also started canceling the examinations. Budha Dal Public school in Patiala cancelled the exams and likewise, Infant Jesus Public School in Mohali cancelled the final examination for Class 1-4.

A 64-year-old coronavirus patient passed away at Mumbai's Kasturba hospital in Maharashtra on Tuesday taking the death toll of coronavirus in India to 3, with the total number of cases reported 126.

Global impact of coronavirus

The novel coronavirus has been declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO), earlier this month. Meanwhile, over 182,742 cases have been reported across the globe with 7,174 fatalities so far. Fortunately, 79,883 patients have been recovered so far. Clubs, cinemas, shopping malls to remain closed in Punjab

Taking a precautionary measure in the wake of coronavirus, the Punjab Government has decided to shut down all the Clubs, cinemas and shopping malls till March 31, in an order to avoid a huge gathering. -PTC News
