Punjab CM reviews the state’s preparedness to tackle Coronavirus
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday reviewed the state’s preparedness to tackle Coronavirus (COVID 19) and directed Health Department to keep a close eye on the situation triggered by the virus.
The Chief Minister has decided to personally monitor the situation on a day-to-day basis. Meanwhile, Captain Amarinder Singh has also appealed to the people to keep away from crowded places, as a preventive measure.
Punjab CM has ordered the health department to gear up to deal with the virus. Likewise, a State Rapid Response Team has been constituted comprised of four senior doctors, for the same. Similarly, a control room has been established in each and every district, with District Rapid Response teams to maintain 24X7 strict vigil.
During a high-level meeting to review the arrangements to tackle COVID-19, the Chief Minister asked the Principal Secretary Health to immediately issue an advisory to tell people about the symptoms and precautions to be taken.
Captain Amarinder Singh also asked Chief Secretary to direct Deputy Commissioners to instruct the field staff in their respective districts to assist the health department in its campaign.

The Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has also informed the CM that there was a total of 5795 persons in Punjab with travel history to affected countries. As of Thursday, 13 persons were found symptomatic for coronavirus.
Principal Secretary Health Anurag Aggarwal stated that the Department had already designated State Nodal Officer as the Surveillance Officer, with district nodal officers in place to manage the situation. He further stated that 22 district hospitals and three Government Medical Colleges have been identified to deal with any kind of emergency.
